ESL & E.L. Civics

ESL (English as a Second Language) and English & Literacy Civics (E.L. Civics) classes assist students in language acquisition through speaking, listening, reading, and writing the English Language.  E.L. Civics classes cover American history, government, and information related to the United States Citizenship test. The purpose of both programs is for students to acquire the knowledge and skills to become active and informed parents, workers and community members.

HSE

The HSE (High School Equivalency Certificate) is obtained after passing 4 sub-tests. The sub-tests include Language Arts-Writing, Language Arts-Reading, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics (which includes the use of a scientific calculator). Our HSE classes help prepare students to take each test.  Community Action now offers Spanish HSE classes at some of our locations.  Please refer to our locations page below for more information.
