Community Action has made raising the level of teacher qualifications a priority and, as stated
earlier, much has been done to make progress toward achieving this objective. It is the goal of
Community Action to provide at least one Bachelor’s degreed teacher per classroom. In addition,
many Community Action Teaching Assistant’s have a CDA credentials. Though the
CDA credential is not required for Teaching Assistants, we expect all Teaching Assistants to at
least get an initial CDA and encourage those interested to maintain their CDA certification.

With the implementation of structured curriculum for all Community Action
Head Start classrooms, teachers will need to be trained in the development of lesson
plans using the adopted curriculum and the Pre-school First ongoing assessment and
45 day mandatory educational screenings. In addition teachers will receive training on
creating a classroom that meets the social and emotional needs of all the children in
the class.

Approach to Collaborations: |
| |
|
|
| |
|
In working with our collaborative partners Community Action is clear in its expectations
regarding our approach to early education. In addition we are responsive to the needs and
expectations of our community partners. We always seek first to understand the needs, concerns
and expectations of our partners, and then to be honest and direct in communicating our own
needs, concerns or expectations. |
