Homelessness Prevention |

| |
As part of a successful partnership with the Hays Caldwell Women's Center and the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, Community Action is able to provide homelessness prevention services in Hays and Caldwell counties. Families or households with incomes at or below 200% of the federal poverty level or below are eligible for assistance if they are currently homeless, or are in imminent danger of becoming homeless due to a sudden reduction in income or a sudden increase in expenses. Families in imminent danger of becoming homeless must demonstrate that they will be able to resume making housing payments within 60 days of applying for homeless prevention assistance. Types of assistance provided are payment of rent or mortgage, security deposits and utility deposits. Funding for this emergency service is very limited, relevant to the need for assistance, and is not available at certain times of the year.
